Belmont, NC – Erskine swept a Conference Carolinas double header from Belmont Abbey Thursday afternoon, winning game one 3-1 and game two 3-2.
Game OneThe Crusaders would score a run in the bottom of the first to take an early lead. In the top of the second,
Chandler Crawford would double to lead off the inning and later score to tie the game up. Neither team would score over the next five innings, and the game would go to extra innings.
Britton Young would score on a wild pitch to put Erskine up 2-1.
Mia Blochviak would later steal home to make it a 3-1 game and the Fleet would hold on for the victory.
Crawford was 2-3 with a double and run scored to lead the Fleet, while Blochviak added a double and
Brittany Reynolds singled for the Fleet.
Kaylin White (6-2) picked up the win allowing one run on six hits and striking out five in a complete game performance.
Game TwoBelmont Abbey would again score a run in the bottom of the first to take the lead over the Fleet, and add another run in the fourth to make it a 2-0 game. In the fifth Erskine would take advantage of a Crusader error to take the lead. Crawford would hit a two run triple to right to tie the game up and then score on a double by
Jacquie Hill to give Erskine the lead.
Crawford was 1-3 with a triple and two RBI's, while Hill and
Lydia Trexler both added doubles for the Fleet.
Candace Fitch (5-4) picked up the win allowing two runs on four hits and striking out 10 in another complete game performance.
