Chaz Davey blasted a two run home run in the bottom of the sixth to cap a three run inning and put Erskine up 10-8 and the Fleet would go on to defeat Brevard 12-8 in Tuesday afternoon.
The Tornados would score five runs in five hits in the top of the first to take the early lead. In the bottom half of the first the Fleet would answer with a two run single by
Henry Faunce to make the score 5-2. Erskine would add five more runs in the second to take a 7-5 lead. Brevard would score a run in the third and two in the sixth to regain the lead 8-7. In the bottom of the sixth,
Sam Cothran would reach on a Brevard error and
Chris Rave would walk. Cothran would then score on a sacrifice fly by Faunce to tie the game at eight. Davey would then hit his sixth home run of the season to put Erskine up 10-8. A two run single by
Chase Watts in the bottom of the eight would give Erskine some breathing room.
Davey led the Fleet at the plate going 4-5 with a home run and three RBI's and Faunce was 2-3 with three runs batted in.
Joe Johnson (3-1) picked up the win allowing just one hit and striking out two in 3.2 innings of relief work.
