Wingate, NC – The Bulldogs of Wingate University swept a non-conference softball double header Saturday, winning game one 5-4 and game two 9-1.
Game OneTrailing 3-0 in the top of the sixth,
Chandler Crawford would lead off the inning with a home run.
Lydia Trexler would then single through the left side and
Christine Long would follow with a double. Trexler would score on a single by
Baylee Browning to make it a one run game.
Mia Blochviak would single to left center field to score two and give Erskine the one run lead. Wingate would score two runs in the bottom of the seventh to rally for the win.
Blochviak was 2-3 with two RBI's to lead the Fleet offense, while Trexler finished the game 2-4 with a double.
Kaylin White (0-1) took the loss allowing two run on three hits in three innings or relief.
Game TwoErskine would take advantage of a Wingate error in the first to take an early 1-0 lead over the Bulldogs. The lead would be short lived as the Bulldogs scored three in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead and they would add six more runs over the next four innings to take the victory.
Sydney Smith was a perfect 2-2 in the game, while
Reagan Davis was 1-2 and scored the lone Erskine run.
Jacquie Hill was also 1-2 with one RBI.
Candace Fitch (1-1) took the loss allowing seven runs on 13 hits in four innings of work.
