Due West, SC – Erskine and Coker split a non-conference double header Saturday afternoon, the Fleet won game one 9-5 and Coker won game two 16-9.
Game OneIn the bottom of the first inning
Henry Faunce would blast a two run home run to left field and
Chaz Davey would follow with a solo home run to give Erskine a 3-0 lead. The Cobras would score two in the top of the first to cut the lead to one. Leading 4-2 in the fourth,
Trevor Wood would hit a two run double and then score on a single by
Sam Cothran to make it a 7-2 game. The Fleet would add two more runs in the fifth on a two run triple by Bret Silas and hold on for the 9-5 victory.
Cothran led the Fleet going 2-4 with an RBI, while
Chase Watts and
Destin Nichols were both 2-3.
Alex Calvert (3-0) picked up the win allowing four earned runs on nine hits in seven innings of work and striking out seven.
Game TwoCothran again led Erskine at the plate going 2-3 with a double, home run, and two RBI's, while Faunce and Watts both added two hits in the loss.
Zack Bowers (2-1) took the loss allowing four runs on four hits in 1.1 innings of work.
