Due West, SC – Coker scored seven runs in the first four innings and held on for a 10-8 victory over Erskine Friday afternoon in the first game of a three game series.
Trailing 7-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Erskine would take advantage of four Coker walks and two errors to score three runs and make it a 7-5 game.
Destin Nichols would lead off the fifth with a solo home run to cut the deficit to one and in the sixth and later in the inning
Sam Cothran would hit a two out double to score
Tyler Phillips to tie the game. Coker would take advantage of three Erskine errors over the last two innings to take the lead and hold on for the win.
Nichols would lead the Fleet at the plate going 3-5 with a double, home run and one RBI, while Cothran, Phillips,
Chris Rave, and
Henry Faunce each had a hit.
Joe Johnson (1-1) took the tough luck loss allowing three unearned runs on three hits and striking out three in three innings of relief.
