Due West, SC – The Flying Fleet scored eight runs in their final two at bats to defeat the #17
th ranked Wolves of Newberry Tuesday afternoon in nonconference baseball action.
Newberry would score three runs in the top of the first to take the early lead. The Fleet would answer with four runs in the bottom half of the inning, paced by a three run home run by
Henry Faunce. Erskine would add a run in the second and third to make it a 6-3 game. The Wolves would tie the game up in with three runs in the fifth. In the bottom of the inning
Chaz Davey would hit a solo home run to give Erskine the lead. Erskine would then score eight runs in their last two at bats to bust the game wide open.
Faunce led the Fleet at the plate going 3-5 with a home run and four RBI's, while
Destin Nichols and
Chris Rave each added two hits with three and two RBI's respectively.
Noah Hinzman (1-0) picked up the win allowing one run on four hits and striking out five in 3.2 innings of relief.
