Chaz Davey was 2-4 with a home run, double and three RBI's in his first collegiate start to help lead the Flying Fleet to a 10-3 victory over Davis & Elkins Friday afternoon in the season opener.
Davey's home run would put Erskine up 1-0 in the bottom of the second.
Tanner Lollis and
Tyler Phillips would follow with back to back singles and then score on a single by
Chase Watts to make it 4-0. Watts would later score on a single by
Sam Cothran to make it a five run game. The Fleet would add five more runs and hold on for the victory.
Besides Davey, Watts was 3-4 with two RBI's and Lollis was 2-4 with a double and RBI's.
Chris Rave and
Henry Faunce each added a home run for the Fleet. Junior
Nate Williams (1-0) picked up the win allowing just two hits in five scoreless innings of work and striking out eight.
The two teams will conclude their series tomorrow with a double header starting at noon.
