Erskine Offense Explodes in Sweep

Due West, SC – The Flying Fleet exploded for 24 runs in a double header sweep of Davis and Elkins Saturday afternoon.

Game One

With the score 0-0 in the bottom of the third inning, Tyler Phillips would lead off with a single through the left side of the infield and then advance to second on a wild pitch.  He would then score on a single to right center by Trevor Wood.  Wood and AJ Fabrizio would later score on a single by Chris Rave to make it 3-0.  Gunner Sellers would lead off the next inning with a solo home run and in the fifth, Same Cothran would lead off with a double and score on a ground out by Chaz Davey.

Rave was 2-3 with a double and two RBI's to lead the Fleet offense and Wood was also 2-3 with a double and one run driven in.  Alex Calvert (1-0) picked up the win allowing one run on four hits and striking out six in five innings of work.

Game Two

Erskine would explode for five runs in the second inning of game two to break a scoreless tie.  Ryan Lark led off with a double and scored the first run on a single by Tyler Phillips.  Cothran would single to left to score two and Henry Faunce would have a RBI single to finish the scoring in the second.

Cothran was 3-4 with a home run, triple and four RBI's to pace the Fleet, while Davey, Fabrizio, and Phillips each added three hits in the win.  Josh Alley (1-0) picked up the win allowing one run on five hits and striking out six batters.

The Fleet will return to action Tuesday as they host Benedict College at 2:00 pm.
