Box Score Brevard, SC – The Flying Fleet exploded for eight runs in the top of the seventh inning to break open a two run game and went on to a 15-1 victory over Brevard College Wednesday afternoon in non conference action.
In the top of the third inning,
Logan Galliher would lead off with a single to left field and advance to third when
Andrew Kozak drew a walk. Both runners would score on a double to right field by
Brandon Overstreet, who advanced to third on an error by the right fielder.
Joey Wilson would ground out to short to score Overstreet and give Erskine (30-10) a 3-0 lead. Brevard (17-23) would get a run in the bottom half of the inning to make it a 3-1 game and the score would remain 3-1 until the seventh. The Fleet exploded for eight runs on seven hits, with the big blows being a two run double by
Zach Smith, a two run home run by
Sam Cothran, and a solo home run from
Hanlon Maivelett. Erskine would add four more runs in the top of the ninth to take the 15-1 victory.
Maivelett led the Fleet offense going 4-5 with two doubles, a home run and one RBI, while Wooten was 2-4 with a double, home run and three runs driven in.
Noah Hinzman (3-0) picked up the win allowing two hits and striking out two in two and one-thirds of an inning of relief work.
