Box Score 2 Due West, SC - The Flying Fleet split a Conference Carolinas double header with King University Saturday, winning game one 10-2 and losing game two 7-6 in 12 innings.
Game OneTrailing 1-0 in the top of the second,
Hanlon Maivelett would blast a solo home run to left center to tie the game. King (21-22, 13-10) would answer with a run in the bottom half of the inning to regain the lead. The score would remain 2-1 until the top of the fifth.
Logan Galliher would lead off the inning with a home run to left field to tie the game.
Andrew Kozak would then single to center, then steal second and advance to third when the throw went to into center field. He would score on a sacrifice fly by
Brandon Overstreet to give Erskine (31-12, 16-8) the one run lead. The Fleet would add seven runs over the next two innings to take the 10-2 victory.
Galliher led the Fleet at the plate going 3-4 with two home runs, a double and six RBI's, while Maivelett was 3-4 with a home run, one RBI and three runs scored.
Luke Crumley (8-1) picked up the win allowing two runs on five hits and striking out two in five innings of work.
Game TwoTrailing 2-0 in the top of the third,
Brandon Wooten and Overstreet would each hit a solo home run to tie the game up. Erskine would add three more runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 6-2 lead on King. The Tornado would score a run in the sixth to make it a three run game and in the bottom of the ninth they would score three to tie the game. Neither team could score a run until the bottom of the 12
th inning King would score on a double down the left field line to win the game.
Wooten was 3-5 with a home run and two RBI's to lead Erskine, while Overstreet was 2-5 with two home runs and two RBI's.
Kyle Foster (4-3) took the loss allowing one run on one hit in the 12
th inning.
