Box Score 2 Anderson, SC – The seventh ranked Flying Fleet swept a non conference double header from Anderson University Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
Game OneIn the top of the second
Destin Nichols would lead off with a walk and then advanced to third when
Sam Cothran reached on an error.
Brandon Wooten would then hit a three run home run down the right field line to put Erskine (29-6) up 3-0.
Brandon Overstreet would draw a two out walk and score on a triple by
Joey Wilson. Wilson would then score on a single through the left side by
Zach Smith to make it 5-0. Anderson (15-19) would score a run in the bottom of the inning, but Erskine would score two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth and take the 10-5 victory.
Smith led the Fleet at the plate going 3-4 with two RBI's, while Wilson was 2-4 with a triple and two runs driven in.
Kyle Foster (4-1) picked up the win allowing five runs on 13 hits and struck out four in a complete game performance.
Game TwoThe Fleet bats came out hot in game two, erupting for four three runs in the top of the first. Wilson would single to third base and Smith would follow with a home run to left
center.
Logan Galliher would walk and later score on a single from Cothran to finish the scoring. With one out in the top of the third,
Richard Dix and Cothran would hit back to back doubles to make it 4-0.
Hanlon Maivelett would then blast a home run to left to push the Fleet lead to six. Wooten would double down the left field line and scored on a single from Overstreet to make it a 7-0 game. The Trojans would explode for five runs in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead to two. In the top of the sixth, Overstreet would lead off with a single and then advance to third when the pickoff attempt got away from the first baseman. He would score on a single to second base from Smith to make the score 8-5. Anderson would answer with a run in the bottom half of the inning to make it a two run game again. Cothran would lead off the seventh with a double down the left field line.
Chase Watts would pinch run and score on a single through the left side by Wooten to make it 9-6.
Cothran was 3-4 with two doubles and two RBI's to lead the Fleet offense. Smith finished the game 2-4 with a home run and three runs driven in, while Overstreet and Wooten each had two hits and one RBI.
Joe Johnson (3-0) picked up the win allowing one run on five hits and striking out four in three innings of relief work.
Cody Dysart (1) picked up the save allowing just one hit and striking out one in 1.2 innings of work.
