Box Score 2 Due West, S.C. – Erskine's
Candace Fitch (Cherryville, NC, Burns High School) fired a one-hit shutout to give the Flying Fleet (7-10) a split with the Jaguars of Georgia Regents University-Augusta (14-4) this afternoon in non-conference softball action at the Erskine College Softball Complex. The Jaguars won the first game convincingly 11 to 1 in five innings while the Fleet took the nightcap 2 to 0.
Game One
The Erskine pitchers struggled in locating their pitches, walking five batters and hitting a batter, resulting in six runs. In all the Jaguars scored 11 runs on 6 hits.

Danica Newton (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) got off a rough start, hitting the GRU lead-off batter and walking and the next two. The Jaguars' cleared the bases on doubles by Hannah Vaughn and Lindsey Stokes.
In the next inning, the Jaguars again took advantage of two more walks to score three runs. After back-to-back walks, Brooke Stephens drove in both runners with a double. Vaughn followed with an rbi single to give the Jaguars a 7 to 1 lead and drive Newton from the game.
Offensively the Fleet managed just three hits of GRU's starting pitcher Paige Deschaine. Deschaine pitched five innings giving up one run on three hits. She walked three and struck out nine for her eighth win of the season.
Erskine's lone run came in the second inning.
Gabby Keisler (Gilbert, SC) led off the inning with her 4
th home run of the season.
Game Two
In the nightcap, Fitch allowed just one hit, a lead-off double to Vaughn in the fourth. Fitch retired the next three batters to preserve the shutout and earn her fourth win of the season.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, Erskine's
Brittany Reynolds (Seneca, SC) singled to right to score
Brooke Rhinehardt (Clover, SC).
The Fleet added an insurance run in the sixth off a sacrifice fly by Brooke Rhinehardt to score
Ericka McCarson (Travelers Rest, SC, Travelers Rest High School).
Erskine banged out six hits in game two.
Erskine hosts conference foe King University this Saturday for two games. The first game starts at 1:00 p.m.
