Box Score 2 Due West, SC – Erskine College won both games of a double header to complete a three game sweep of Miles College Saturday afternoon.
Game OneThe Flying Fleet would explode for five runs in the bottom of the second. Back to back sacrifice flies from
Joey Wilson (Charleston, SC, USC Sumter) and
Hanlon Maivelett (Aiken, SC, Aiken HS) made it a 2-0 game.
Andrew Kozak (Sidney, NY, Hudson Valley CC) would then hit a run scoring single and
Zach Smith (Lexington, SC, White Knoll HS) would add a two run single to complete the scoring. Erskine would go on to score nine runs over the next four innings to take the 14-2 victory.
Richard Dix (Clemson, SC, Daniel HS) was 2-3 with a home run and two RBI's to lead the Fleet offense, while Smith was 2-4 with three runs batted in. Maivelett added two hits with three RBI's and
Tanner Lollis (Williamston, SC, Palmetto HS) was 2-4 with two runs driven in.
Luke Crumley (Cleveland, GA, University of Georgia) (1-0) picked up the win allowing two runs on two hits and striking out seven in six innings of work.
Game TwoErskine would again score in the bottom of the second in game two to take the early lead. Wilson would lead off with a single and advance to third on a double by Lollis. Kozak would then single to give the Fleet a 2-0 lead. Kozak would later score on a passed ball to make the score 3-0. In the bottom of the third, Dix would walk,
Sam Cothran (Williamston, SC, Palmetto HS) would single and Wilson would walk to load the bases.
Ryan Lark (North Augusta, SC, North Augusta HS) would then draw a walk and Lollis would reach on a fielder's choice to make it a 5-0 game. Wilson would then score on a wild pitch to make it a 6-1 game. The Fleet would add nine runs over the last three innings to take the 15-2 victory.
Wilson and
Brandon Overstreet (Stuart, FL, Herkimer CC) each had three hits to lead the Erskine offense, while
Logan Galliher (Taylorsville, NC, Alexander Central HS) added a home run and three runs driven in. Lollis and Cothran each added two hits in the victory.
Austin Gambrell (Belton, SC, Spartanburg Methodist College) (1-0) picked up the win allowing one run on three hits and striking out four in four innings of work.
