Box Score Due West, SC – Erskine opened up conference play with a 9-0 victory over Barton College Friday afternoon.

In the bottom of the first, Brandon Overstreet (Stuart, FL, Herkimer CC) would lead off with a single and then advanced to third on a single by Zach Smith (Lexington, SC, White Knoll HS).  He would then score when Logan Galliher (Taylorsville, NC, Alexander Central HS) reached base on a fielder's choice to give the Flying Fleet a 1-0 lead.  Erskine would add to their lead with three runs in the bottom of the second.  Sam Cothran (Williamston, SC, Palmetto HS) would double down the left field line and then score on a single by Overstreet.  Overstreet would score on a single from Joey Wilson (Charleston, SC, USC Sumter) and a single by Smith would score Wilson to finish the scoring.  The Fleet would blow the game open with five runs in their final two at bats as they took the series opening win.

Avery Harper was 1-3 with a double to lead the Bulldog's at the plate, while Matthew Berry, Jacob Willis, and Ben Youngblood each added one hit.  Brandon Warren (2-2) took the loss allowing four runs on eight hits and striking out four in six innings of work.

Smith was 3-5 with two RBI's while Overstreet finished 3-5 with one run driven in to lead the Erskine offense.  Cothran added two hits and scored a run, while Galliher drove in two runs.  Wes Schuler (Spartanburg, SC, USC Sumter) (2-0) picked up the win with a complete game shutout, striking out seven and allowing just four hits.
