Box Score 2 Due West, SC – The Flying Fleet offense exploded for 27 runs on 34 hits in two games to complete the sweep of Salem International Saturday afternoon at Grier Field.
Game OneErskine came out of the box swinging in game one, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the first.
Logan Galliher (Taylorsville, NC, Alexander Central HS),
Joey Wilson (Charleston, SC, USC Sumter), and
Rodney O'Neal (Dublin, GA, Middle Tenn. St.) each had RBI singles and
Brandon Wooten (Taylors, SC, Blue Ridge HS) had a two run double in the inning. The Fleet would add four runs in the next two innings and a run in the sixth to round out the scoring.
Galliher was a perfect 3-3 with a run scored and run driven in, while
Brandon Overstreet (Stuart, FL, Herkimer CC) was 2-2 with an RBI. O'Neal was also 2-2 with a run driven in, while
Zach Smith (Lexington, SC, White Knoll HS) added two hits, including a double.
Luke Crumley (Cleveland, GA, University of Georgia) (2-0) picked up the win allowing four hits and striking out three in four innings of work.
Game TwoThe Erskine offense didn't slow down in game two. In the bottom of the first, Wilson would be hit by a pitch and advance to third on a double by Smith. Wilson would then score on a wild pitch and Smith would score on a single form Galliher to make it a 2-0 game. In the bottom of the second,
Richard Dix (Clemson, SC, Daniel HS) and
Sam Cothran (Williamston, SC, Palmetto HS) would both single and then score on a double by Overstreet to make it a four run game. Erskine would add 10 runs over their last six at bats to complete the sweep.
Galliher was 4-5 with a triple and three RBI's and Overstreet was 3-5 with a double and triple with four RBI's to lead the Erskine offense. Dix,
Destin Nichols (Tampa, FL, Berkley Prep) and
Chase Watts (Rock Hill, SC, Rock Hill HS) each added two hits in the victory.
Austin Gambrell (Belton, SC, Belton-Honea Path High School, Spartanburg Methodist College) (2-0) picked up the win allowing one run on four hits and striking out five in five innings of work.
