Gaffney, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet (12-5, 7-0) edged the Limestone College Saints (8-7, 6-2) 5 to 4 to remain undefeated in conference play.
Erskine grabbed two of the three doubles matches to take a 2 to 1 lead into the singles matches. Junior
Mika Goyette (Brossard, Quebec, Ecole Secondaire De Mortague) and sophomore
Haley Elliott (Simpsonville, SC, Mauldin High School) trounced their Limestone opponent 8 to 2 at #1 doubles and sophomores
Miranda Guthrie (Suwanee, GA, Home-schooled) and
Sarah McDonald (Cottageville, SC, Colleton Preparatory Academy) won 8 to 4 at #2 doubles.
Erskine split the six single matches to win the match 5 to 4. Elliott clinched the first singles match at #4 singles by defeating Julia Moreira 7-5, 6-2. Guthrie picked up the Fleet's fourth point playing at #1 singles while freshman
Mollie Polk (Round O, SC, Pinewood Preparatory School) won the decisive fifth point 6-2, 6-0 over Jessica Martinez.
Erskine's match against Wingate on Monday has been cancelled at the request of the Wingate coach. Erskine will play archrival Anderson University at home on Thursday starting at 2:30 p.m.
