Box Score Newberry, SC – The Flying Fleet scored six runs in the first two innings and held on for an 8-3 victory over Newberry College Tuesday evening in non conference baseball action.

Andrew Kozak (Sidney, NY, Hudson Valley CC) would lead off the game with a double to left field and he advanced to third on a bunt single by Brandon Overstreet (Stuart, FL, Herkimer CC).  Chase Corn (Travelers Rest, SC, Blue Ridge HS) would then reach on a Newberry error allowing Kozak to score.  Zach Smith (Lexington, SC, White Knoll HS) would lay down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners into scoring position and a sacrifice fly by Logan Galliher (Taylorsville, NC, Alexander Central HS) would score Overstreet and make it a 2-0 game.  In the top of the second, Erskine (20-7) would get RBI singles from Kozak, Overstreet and Corn to increase their lead to five.  Galliher would get his second sacrifice fly in as many innings to make the score 6-0.  Neither team would score over the next five innings.  In the top of the seventh, Overstreet would single and then later score on a single by Galliher.  The Wolves (16-16) would get three runs in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead to four, but the Fleet would add another run in the ninth and take the victory.

Overstreet was 3-5 with an RBI to lead Erskine, while Smith, Kozak, and Tanner Lollis (Williamston, SC, Palmetto HS) added two hits each.  Dustin Sherbert (Mayo, SC, Chesnee HS) (1-0) threw six shutout innings allowing just five hits and striking out five to pick up the win.
