Erskine slams Slippery Rock 7-1

Hilton Head Island, S.C. – After having their second match of their Spring Break Trip cancelled due to rain, the Erskine Flying Fleet (10-3) returned to the court to defeat Slippery Rock University (5-6) 7-1 this afternoon in non-conference women's tennis action.

Erskine swept through the doubles matches, easily winning all three.  Senior Corin Hallman (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) and junior Mika Goyette (Brossard, Quebec, Ecole Secondaire De Mortague) cruised at #1 doubles winning 8 to 1 while freshmen Haley Whatley (North Richland Hills, TX, Birdville High School) and Mollie Polk (Round O, SC, Pinewood Preparatory School) made quick work of their opponents winning 8 to 2.

In the six singles matches, Erskine won four of the six in straight sets.   Hallman dropped her match to Nina Grbac 6-4, 6-4 while Sarah McDonald's match was left unfinished due to time constraints with the availability of the courts.  McDonald (Cottageville, SC, Colleton Preparatory Academy) had won her first set 6-2 and was leading in the second set 3 to 2 when the match was called.

Erskine will play Saint Leo University Wednesday morning starting at 8:00 a.m.
