Hilton Head Island, S.C. – Playing their first of four games on their spring break trip to Hilton Head Island, the Erskine Flying Fleet (9-3) defeated the Tiffin University Dragons (19-6) 7 to 2 this morning in non-conference women's tennis action.
Erskine grabbed an early 2 to 1 lead, winning two of the three doubles matches. Freshmen
Mollie Polk (Round O, SC, Pinewood Preparatory School) and
Haley Whatley (North Richland Hills, TX, Birdville High School) won the Fleet's first point, downing their doubles opponent 8 to 3.
Corin Hallman (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) and
Mika Goyette (Brossard, Quebec, Ecole Secondaire De Mortague) won their match at #1 doubles shortly thereafter 8 to 2. The Dragons won the last remaining doubles match 8 to 4.
Erskine won five the six singles matches to win the match 7 to 2. Sophomore
Sarah McDonald (Cottageville, SC, Colleton Preparatory Academy) was the first to finish, defeating her opponent 6-2, 7-5. After losing the next match at #1 singles, the Flying Fleet won the next four matches.
Erskine plays Bloomsburg University on Monday morning starting at 8:00 a.m.
