Mount Olive, N.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet completed their three day road trip by trouncing the University of Mount Olive Trojans 9-0 Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas women's tennis action at the Walker Tennis Center.
With the win, the Flying Fleet improve to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in conference while the Trojans slip to 5-2 overall and 0-1 in conference.
After winning the top two doubles matches by the same score of 9 to 7, the Fleet swept the three doubles matches when
Haley Elliott (Simpsonville, SC, Mauldin High School) and
Mollie Polk (Round O, SC, Pinewood Preparatory School) clipped Samantha Paldinho and Paulina Delgado 9 to 7.
Erskine quickly won the match with straight wins by
Sarah McDonald (Cottageville, SC, Colleton Preparatory Academy),
Miranda Guthrie (Suwanee, GA, Home-schooled), Polk and Guthrie. Erskine completed the shutout after both
Corin Hallman (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) and
Mika Goyette (Brossard, Quebec, Ecole Secondaire De Mortague) rebounded to win their matches after losing the first sets.
Erskine will host non-conference foe USC-Aiken this Thursday starting at 2:00 p.m.
