Box Score 2 Due West, SC – Erskine College finished off a four game sweep of Salem International Saturday afternoon winning game one 11-2 and game two 13-0.
Game One
The Fleet (9-1) would get on the board with three runs in the bottom of the first.
Andrew Kozak (Sidney, NY, Hudson Valley CC) would reach on an error to lead off the inning and then stole second.
Sam Cothran (Williamston, SC, Palmetto HS) then singled and stole second allowing Kozak to score on the throw to second base. After a single by
Chase Corn (Travelers Rest, SC, Blue Ridge HS), Cothran scored on a ground out by
Zach Smith (Lexington, SC, White Knoll HS). Corn would then score on a sacrifice fly by
Logan Galliher (Taylorsville, NC, Alexander Central HS). Erskine would be held scoreless for the next two innings, but
Brandon Overstreet (Stuart, FL, Herkimer CC) would hit his first home run of the season with two outs in the fourth to make it a four run game. The Fleet offense would blow the game wide open with seven runs in the next two innings to take the victory.
Corn led Erskine at the plate going 3-4 with a double and three RBI's, while Smith added two hits and three runs batted in. Both Cothran and Overstreet also had two hits each.
JR Black (Greenville, SC, USC Sumter) (2-0) picked up the win allowing just one hit and striking out six in six shut out innings.
Game Two
The Fleet bats picked up where it left off in game one, scoring eight runs in the first two innings of game two. The big blow for Erskine was a three run home run by Galliher in the second. In the four inning, Smith would triple off the left field wall and then score on Galliher's second home run of the game.
Brandon Wooten (Taylors, SC, Blue Ridge HS) followed with a solo home run and Overstreet singled to score
Destin Nichols (Tampa, FL, Berkley Prep) who had doubled earlier in the inning to make the score 13-0.
Cothran finished the game a perfect 3-3 with two doubles and an RBI, while Wooten and Corn also added three hits and a run driven in. Galliher finished the game 2-4 with two home runs and five RBI's and Smith was 2-3 with a triple and one run batted in.
Nic Levy (Hilton Head, SC, Hilton Head HS) (1-0) picked up the win allowing just one hit and striking out six in four scoreless innings of work.
The Fleet return to action as they host Anderson University Tuesday at 2:00 pm.
