Box Score 2 Due West, SC – The Flying Fleet offense exploded for 22 runs in a double header sweep of visiting Salem International Friday afternoon in non conference baseball action.
Game 1
Erskine (7-1) would take a 2-0 lead in bottom of the first.
Andrew Kozak (Sidney, NY, Hudson Valley CC) doubled to lead off the inning and then scored on a sacrifice fly by
Chase Corn (Travelers Rest, SC, Blue Ridge HS).
Zach Smith (Lexington, SC, White Knoll HS) would then single and score on a double by
Logan Galliher (Taylorsville, NC, Alexander Central HS). After Salem (0-5) tied the game in the top of the second, the Fleet regained the lead when
Brandon Wooten (Taylors, SC, Blue Ridge HS) scored on a sacrifice fly by Kozak. The Tigers would then tie the game in the fourth, but Erskine would then score five runs over the final three innings to take the 8-3 victory.
Corn and Kozak each had one hit and three RBI's to lead the Fleet offense.
Austin Gambrell (Belton, SC, Belton-Honea Path High School) (2-0) picked up the win allowing two earned runs on five hits and striking out eight in six innings of work.
Game 2
Erskine's offense would explode for 14 runs on 16 hits in the second game scoring runs in each of the first five innings.
Sam Cothran (Williamston, SC, Palmetto HS) led Erskine at the plate going 4-4 with a double and four RBI's.
Destin Nichols (Tampa, FL, Berkley Prep) finished the game 2-3 with a run scored while Corn and
Cody Spence (Belton, SC, Belton-Honea Path HS) each added two hits.
Zach McAllister (Simpsonville, SC, Hillcrest HS) (1-1) picked up the win allowing no runs on just three hits and striking out six in five innings of work.
The two teams will play a double header tomorrow with the first pitch at 12:00 pm.
