Erskine drops two games at AASU Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Savannah, GA – In day two of the Armstrong Atlantic State University Tournament, the Erskine Women's Volleyball Team dropped both games.  The Flying Fleet (1-3) lost the first game to the University of North Alabama 3-1 (25-20, 14-25, 14-25, and 21-25) and the second game 3-0 to Flagler College.

Neither team played well offensively in the first set as the two teams combined for a .000 hitting percentage with the Fleet prevailing 25-20.  UNA got two blocks early in the second set to spark an offensive surge that led to a .478 hitting percentage in the third set and two wins.  In the fourth set, the Fleet rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to tie the game at 17-17.  With the game tied again at 21-21, UNA used a 4-0 run to win the set and match.

Sophomore Kelly Sullivan (Wellington, FL, Wellington Community High School) and freshman A.J. Campbell (Pilot Point, TX, Pilot Point HIgh School) combined for 8 kills each while setter Megan Johnson (Little River, SC, Scholars Academy) recorded a career-high 27 assists along with 6 digs.  Senior Anna Butrym (West Columbia, SC, White Knoll High School) anchored the back row with 10 digs.

Erskine faced Flagler in the second game and lost in straight sets 3-0.  Complete game statistics are not available at this time.

Erskine travels to Florence, South Carolina, next Friday to face Francis Marion University.  Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
