Rock Hill, S.C. – The Erskine Men's Cross Country Team finished 9
th out of 11 teams in the non-division I group in the Winthrop Open held at the Winthrop Farm.
The Flying Fleet essentially ran as a group with freshmen
James Gregory (Indian Land, SC, Indian Land High School) and
Vincent Harris (Vero Beach, FL, Sebastian River High School) leading the way. Gregory completed the 8K course in 29:09 to finish in 56
th place overall while Harris finished in 59
th place at 29:41. Erskine had their next four runners finish between 63
rd and 75
th place to round of their scoring.
Blaise Binns of Alabama-Huntsville won the medalist honors with a time of 24:56, almost a full minute ahead of teammate Jose Ortega.
But it was Emmanuel College that won the team competition, 7 points ahead of Alabama-Huntsville.
Erskine will run next Saturday at the Will Wilson Citadel Invitation.
