Anderson, S.C. – Erskine edged archrival Anderson University 5-4 this afternoon in non-conference women’s tennis action at the Max Grubbs Memorial Complex.
In doubles play, Erskine won two of the three matches to take an early 2 to 1 lead. Erskine won at both #2 and #3 doubles but
Corin Hallman (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) and
Mika Goyette (Brossard, Quebec, Ecole Secondaire De Mortagne) narrowly fell at #1 doubles 8 to 6.
Erskine split the six singles with Anderson. Hallman bounced back after dropping her doubles match to pound her opponent 6-2, 6-0 at #1 singles. Senior
Abby O'Reilly (Acworth, GA, Harrison High School) also won in straight sets at her #3 singles position while freshman
Sarah McDonald (Cottageville, SC, Colleton Preparatory Academy) prevailed for the match point at #6 singles.

Miranda Guthrie (Suwanee, GA, Home-schooled)rebounded after losing her first set to take the second set but lost in the tie-breaker set 10-7.
Erskine faces Limestone College at home tomorrow starting at 3:00 p.m. This match was originally scheduled for Thursday but was moved up due to the likelihood of rain on Thursday.
