Due West, S.C. – As the conference tournament champion, Erskine received an automatic bid to the NCAA Southeast Regional Finals. The Flying Fleet will enter the regional tournament as the #6 seed and will face #3 seed and tenth nationally-ranked Francis Marion in their first match.
Columbus State University, the #2 seed, will host the Fleet’s half the bracket. In addition to Columbus State and Francis Marion, #7 Wingate University, the South Atlantic Conference Tournament Champion will also be in the Fleet’s bracket.
Because Columbus State is also hosting the men’s regional, the tournament will begin on Sunday, April 28
th. Erskine will play Francis Marion University starting at noon, while host Columbus State and Wingate will play earlier that morning at 9:00 a.m. The winners of the first two games will square off on Monday, April 29
th, at 2:00 p.m. for the opportunity to advance to the Round of 16, hosted in Surprise, Arizona, starting on May 8
th.
Armstrong Atlantic, the region’s #1 seed, will host the other bracket and will play #8 seed Clayton State. #4 Georgia College and #5 Augusta State will play in the other match.
Erskine hosted Francis Marion for their season opener on February 6
th with the Patriots prevailing over the Fleet 6 to 3.
Against the rest of the regional field, Erskine is 1-1, having edged Wingate 5-4 and losing to Augusta State 8-1.
