Sumter, S.C. - #1 seed Erskine eliminated #5 Mt. Olive College this afternoon from the Conference Carolinas Women’s Tennis Championship Tournament at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, South Carolina. Erskine won the match 5-0 to advance to the championship match tomorrow at noon.
Erskine swept through the three doubles matches to take a commanding 3-0 lead into the six singles matches. It didn’t take long for the Fleet to secure the last two points as
Mika Goyette (Brossard, Quebec, Ecole Secondaire De Mortagne) and
Sarah McDonald (Cottageville, SC, Colleton Preparatory Academy) won their two respective matches 6-0, 6-0.
The Fleet will face the #3 seed Royals of Queens University tomorrow in the championship match. Queens University upset #2 seed Limestone College 5-0 in the other semi-final match. It will be the third consecutive year that Erskine and Queens have played for the conference tournament championship. Erskine is gunning for the ninth consecutive conference tournament title and bid to the NCAA Regional Tournament.
