Queens defeats Erskine 10-3; Erskine eliminated

Box Score Burlington, N.C. – Erskine, the #7 seed, suffered their second defeat of the conference tournament, losing 10-3 to #4 seed Queens University, to conclude their season.  Erskine ends the season 14-24-2 overall and 10-9-1 in conference.

With the game tied 2-2, Queens busted the game open with a grand slam home run by pitcher Kaitlyn Bodine to take a 6-2 lead.  Queens scored four more runs in the sixth inning.  In all, Queens batters pounded out 16 hits, scoring 10 runs.

Erskine would add one more run in the fifth inning.  Ericka McCarson (Travelers Rest, SC, Travelers Rest High School) led off with a double and later scored on a single by Larissa Shannon (Newberry, SC, Newberry High School).  Shannon and Colleen Gardner (Matthews, NC, Butler High School) finished with four of the Fleet’s eight hits while McCarson scored all three of the Fleet’s runs.

The game originally started yesterday but was suspended until today due to later afternoon rain showers.
