Erskine blasts Pfeiffer to clinch conference title

Due West, S.C. – In a clash of undefeated teams, Erskine blasted Pfeiffer 8 to 1 to clinch the Conference Carolinas Regular Season Championship.  For the Flying Fleet, it is their third consecutive regular season championship and their eighth title in the last nine years.

After easily winning the first two doubles matches, Corin Hallman (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) and Mika Goyette (Brossard, Quebec, Ecole Secondaire De Mortagne) edged Taylor Lindsay and Valeria Mendoza 8 to 6 to give the Fleet a sweep in doubles and a commanding 3-0 lead going into the singles matches.

Erskine quickly won the match as Hallman and Miranda Guthrie (Suwanee, GA, Home-schooled) downed their opponents by the same score of 6-1, 6-1.  Erskine won three of the four remaining singles matches to win the match 8 to 1.  Senior Victoria Stephens (Cumming, GA, South Forsyth High School) rebounded from her first conference lost yesterday to edge Briana Oliver in three sets.  Sarah McDonald (Cottageville, SC, Colleton Preparatory Academy) and Mika Goyette (Brossard, Quebec, Ecole Secondaire De Mortagne) also won their singles matches.

Erskine concludes their regular season this Saturday at home against the Crusaders of North Greenville University.  The match starts at 11:00 a.m.
