Due West, SC – The 24^th ranked Bobcats of Georgia College defeated Erskine 15-5 Wednesday afternoon in non conference baseball action.

The Fleet would take an early lead when Zack Jones (Anderson, SC, USC Sumter) singled in the bottom of the first and scored on a double by Will Huff (Sugar Hill, GA, North Gwinette HS).  Erskine (23-19) would add two runs in the bottom of the second.  Hanlon Maivelett (Aiken, SC, Aiken HS) would draw a one out walk and Phillip Herring (Dillon, SC, Dillion HS) would single to put runners at first and second.  After the runners advanced into scoring position on a wild pitch, Chase Corn (Travelers Rest, SC, Blue Ridge HS) would single to right scoring both and making it a 3-0 game.  The Bobcats (25-10) would explode for eight runs in the top of the third and would not look back.  Trailing 10-3 in the fourth, Maivelett, Sam Cothran (Williamston, SC, Palmetto HS), and Herring would lead off the inning with back to back to back singles to load the bases.  Corn would draw a walk to score Maivelett and cut the deficit to six.  After Richard Dix (Clemson, SC, Daniel HS) grounded into a fielder’s choice, Drew Willingham (Greenwood, SC, Greenwood HS) would ground out to short allowing Herring to score and make it a 10-5 game.  Georgia College would go on to score five runs over the last four innings to take the 15-5 victory.

Corn led the Fleet offense going 2-4 with three RBI’s, while Huff, Cothran, and Herring each added two hits in the loss.  Alex Rhodes (Greenwood, SC, Greenwood High School) (1-4) took the loss allowing six runs on five hits in 2.1 innings of work.
