Game One

After surrendering two runs in the top of the 8th, Erskine tallied three runs in their half of the inning to win the game 5 to 4.  Senior Morgan Purcell (Duncan, SC, Byrnes High School) delivered the knockout blow with a sharp single to center to score the tying and winning runs.

In the circle, senior Kelsey Spurrier (Charlotte, NC, Butler High School) had her best outing of the season yet, going 8 innings while allowing 4 runs, only 2 earned, on 6 hits.  She struck out a season-high 10 batters and walked just one.

At the plate, Shannon hit her first home run of the day, a solo blast in the third inning.  Spurrier helped herself going 2 for 3 with a run batted in.  Purcell also had two hits, including a RBI single.

Game Two

Mt. Olive broke a scoreless tie in the fifth, erupting for five runs, and tacked on five more runs behind two two-run home runs by Jennifer Jones and Rebekah McDaniel.  Kalie Smith delivered the big blow in the fifth with a grand slam to dead center field.

Shannon crushed her second solo home run in the sixth and followed it up with a three-run bomb in the seventh.  Ericka McCarson (Travelers Rest, SC, Travelers Rest High School) also had two hits for the Fleet.

Katherine Mulzer (Donalds, SC, Dixie High School) took the loss, surrendering four runs in one inning of relief.

Due to the rain forecasted for Tuesday, Erskine has moved back their doubleheader against Barton College to Friday at 2:00 p.m.
