#46 Augusta State rolls past Erskine 8-1

Due West, S.C. - #46 Augusta State University rolled past Erskine 8-1 this afternoon in non-conference women’s tennis action at the Erskine College Tennis Complex.  The loss snaps the Fleet’s six match win streak while the Jaguars have now won their last seven matches.

After quickly winning the #2 doubles match, ASU prevailed in the other two tightly contested matches to take a commanding 3-0 lead into singles play. At #1 doubles, Erskine’sCorin Hallman (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) and Mika Goyette (Brossard, Quebec, Ecole Secondaire De Mortagne) lost 8-5 to Liv Pettersson and Victoria Lindqvist while Abby O'Reilly (Acworth, GA, Harrison High School) and Victoria Stephens (Cumming, GA, South Forsyth High School) dropped their match 8-6 at #3 doubles.

Erskine (6-3, 4-0) could not gain any momentum , losing four of the six singles matches in straight sets.  Goyette went three sets before falling 12-10 in the tie-breaker.  Hallman picked up the Fleet’s lone point, crushing her opponent 6-1, 6-0 at #1 singles.

Erskine travels to Bristol, Tennessee tomorrow to play King College then cruise up the mountain to take on the Bobcats of Lees-McRae College on Saturday.
