Due West, SC – Erskine fell to arch rival Anderson University 4-3 Monday afternoon in non conference baseball action.

The Flying Fleet would take the lead in the bottom of the first inning.  Logan Galliher (Taylorsville, NC, Alexander Central HS) would hit a one out single and then Austin Gambrell (Belton, SC, Spartanburg Methodist College) would reach on an error by the Trojan third baseman.  Drew Willingham (Greenwood, SC, Greenwood HS) would line a triple into the right center field gap to score both runners and giver Erskine the 2-0 lead.  Erick Sanderson would lead off the second inning with a double for Anderson and then score on a single by Nathan Galliford to cut the lead in half.  Gambrell would lead off the bottom of the third inning with a double and then score on a single by Richard Dix (Clemson, SC, Daniel HS) to push the lead back to two. 

Steven Cooper would lead off the fourth inning with a solo home run to right field for the Trojans to make it a 3-2 game.  Anderson would load the bases in the fifth with no one out.  Josh Hickman would ground out scoring Shawn Delmontagne to tie the game, and then a sacrifice fly by Paul Liggett would score Jonathan Zalud to give Anderson the lead.  That would be all the Trojans would need as they held on for the victory.

Willingham led the Fleet at the plate going 2-2 with two RBI’s, while Chase Corn (Travelers Rest, SC, Blue Ridge HS) also added two hits in the loss.  Dustin Sherbert (Mayo, SC, Chesnee HS) took the loss allowing four runs on six hits in five innings of work.
