Erskine on the road in conference tournament

Due West, S.C. – Through the various tie-breakers, Erskine is now seeded #5 in the upcoming conference tournament and will travel to #4 Barton College this Saturday.  Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. to accommodate a basketball game already scheduled at 2:00 p.m. that afternoon.

After suffering through a midseason four-game losing streak, the Erskine Women's Volleyball Team closed out the regular season winning 8 of their last 11 games to forge a four-way tie for third place in the conference standings.

The two teams split their regular season matchups with Barton claiming the first game 3-1 and the Flying Fleet winning the second game by the same score 3-1.  The home team won the game in each instance.

In the last matchup, Erskine rebounded after losing the first set to win the next three.  Barton hit .300 in the first set, but Erskine tightened their defense to hold them below .200 over the next three sets, including just .083 in the third set.  Erskine also earned 13 points from service aces.

Caitlin Bullock (Lexington, SC, White Knoll High School) slammed 16 kills while freshman A.J. Campbell (Pilot Point, TX, Pilot Point HIgh School) had 9 kills on just 13 attempts.

The Bulldogs were led Melissa Cochran and Kaitlyn Micol, who had 16 and 11 kills respectively.  Cochran led the Bulldogs this season, averaging 3.24 kills per set.

The winner will advance to face the winner between #1 Belmont Abbey College and #8 North Greenville University.
