Erskine powers past Limestone 3-0

Box Score Due West, S.C. – Playing in their annual DigPink game, Erskine powered past in-state conference rival Limestone 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-21) tonight at Belk Arena.

With the victory, Erskine evens their conference record at 6-6 and improves to 7-12 overall. Limestone slips to 8-12 overall and 6-5 in conference.

Erskine dominated from the opening point, never trailing by more than two points in the three sets. In the first set, Erskine led from start to finish, winning the opener 25-16. Freshman Allie Evans (Frisco, TX, Frisco High School) had two of her four kills to lead the Fleet.

In the second set, Limestone overcame an early six point deficit to tie the game at 20-20 but could not hold off the Flying Fleet. With the assistance of a couple of Saint errors, Erskine put the game away behind kills by Evans and Caitlin Bullock (Lexington, SC, White Knoll High School).

Erskine cruised in the third and final set, leading by as many as eight points. Limestone cut into the lead but Erskine prevailed 25-21 to win the game.

Erskine was led by Bullock's game-high 11 kills. She also had 9 digs along with 3 blocks. Setters Catherine Hurt (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) and Megan Johnson (Little River, SC, Scholars Academy) combined for 23 assists and 5 digs while Anna Butrym (West Columbia, SC, White Knoll High School) had another solid performance at libero with a team-high 13 digs.

For the Saints, Regan Youngs and Judy Slow each had 8 kills while Jessica Onken turned in a double-double from her setter position with 25 assists and 10 digs. Rebecca Kerrison recorded a game-high 20 digs in the loss.

Erskine used tonight's game to raise funds for breast cancer research and awareness. The gym was decorated in pink and service announcements were made during each intermission and timeout.

Erskine hosts conference foes Belmont Abbey and Pfeiffer this weekend. The Fleet play the Crusaders on Friday starting at 7 p.m. and the Falcons on Saturday at noon.
