Box Score Gaffney, SC – The Erskine Flying Fleet opened their two-game road trip with a thrilling 3-2 win over in-state rival Limestone College tonight in women’s volleyball action at. The Fleet trailed 2 sets to 1 but bounced back to win the final two sets for the victory.
Erskine improves to 3-6 overall and 3-1 in conference while Limestone falls to 1-10 overall and 1-3 in conference.
It was a career setting night for several Erskine players statistically. Senior
Lauren Stewart (Hartwell, GA, Hart County High School)knocked down a career and game-high 26 kills to lead the Fleet offense while freshman
Kelly Sullivan (Wellington, FL, Wellington Community High School) also had a personal best 11 kills. Senior setter
Larz Chabra (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School)recorded her third consecutive "double-double" and her fourth of the season with 43 assists and 11 digs.
Defensively senior
Bailey Thornton (Pauline, SC, Dorman High School) led the back row with a career and game-high 25 digs. Senior
Liz Massey (Greenville, SC, Eastside High School) also reached double-digits with 21 digs.
For Limestone, Emylee Gotsch had 22 kills along with 7 digs. Reagan Youngs also contributed 10 kills with 7 digs. Defensively, Rebecca Kerrison had a team-high 22 digs.
Erskine travels up the mountain to Banner Elk, North Carolina, to play the defending conference champions Lees-McRae College on Saturday. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
