Greenwood, SC – Lander University defeated Erskine 7-1 Tuesday night at Dolny Stadium in non conference baseball action.

In the bottom of the second inning, Jeff May blasted a three run home run to left field to put the Bearcats up 3-0.  The Flying Fleet would cut the deficit to two runs in the top of the fourth, when Drew Willingham (Greenwood, SC, Greenwood HS) led off with a walk and later scored on a single by Brandon Wooten (Taylors, SC, Blue Ridge HS).  Lander would then go on to score four unanswered runs to take the victory.

Phillip Herring (Dillon, SC, Dillion HS) led the Fleet at the plate going 2-4, while Wooten, Josh Purvis (Valdosta, GA, Armstrong Atlantic University), and Zac McCarthy (Lyman, SC, Byrnes HS) each had one hit.  John Sever (Travelers Rest, SC, Blue Ridge HS) (1-2) took the loss allowing four runs on five hits and striking out five in four and a third innings pitched.
