Misenheimer, NC – Erskine remained unbeaten in conference play beating the Falcons of Pfeiffer University (6-10, 2-3) 7-2 today in women’s tennis action at the Knapp Tennis Center. For Erskine (15-3, 7-0), it is the first points they have surrendered in conference play this season.
Erskine opened the match by winning two of the three doubles matches. Senior
Nikki Miller (Simpsonville, SC, Southside Christian School) and junior
Abby O'Reilly (Acworth, GA, Harrison High School) had little difficulty at #3 doubles winning 8-0 over Kaleigh Featherstone and Bailey Greene. Sophomore
Corin Hallman (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) and junior
Victoria Stephens (Cumming, GA, South Forsyth High School) also cruised to an easy 8-2 victory at #2 doubles. Unfortunately, Erskine lost at #1 doubles as Alena Krutkina and Taylor Lindsay upset senior
Tessa Rheault (Levis, Quebec, Canada, Ecole Pointe Levy) and freshman
Mika Goyette (Brossard, Quebec, Ecole Secondaire De Mortagne) 8-4. It was the first time this season the Fleet had lost a match in conference play.
Alena Krutkina also scored Pfeiffer’s other point by topping Hallman at #1 singles in three sets 3-6, 7-5, and 1-0 (10-8). Erskine won the other five singles matches in straight sets to win the overall match 7-2.
Erskine hosts Clayton State this Friday starting at 2:00 p.m.
