Box Score 2 Due West, SC –
Heath Gray (Greer, SC, Byrnes HS) pitched 10 1/3 scoreless innings to shut down the Tornado offense and lead the Flying Fleet to a Conference Carolinas double header sweep of King College Friday afternoon.
Game 1 (Erskine 9 King 3)
The Tornado would take the lead in the top of the second on a two run home run by Bryant Walker. They would add another run in the third on an RBI single by Josh Huffman to make it a 3-0 game. In the bottom of the fourth inning,
Logan Galliher (Taylorsville, NC, Alexander Central HS) and
Drew Willingham (Greenwood, SC, Greenwood HS) would hit back to back one out singles.
Chase Corn (Travelers Rest, SC, Blue Ridge HS) would then step to the plate and blast his eighth home run of the year over the right field fence to tie the game at three.
In the top of the sixth inning, King (18-11, 8-7) would load the bases with two outs. Gray would then come into the game and strike the first batter out he faced to end the rally. The score would remain tied until the bottom of the seventh, when
Brandon Wooten (Taylors, SC, Blue Ridge HS) hit a two out double and then scored on a double by
Luke Danielewicz (Spartanburg, SC, Dorman HS) to give Erskine (18-12, 8-7) the lead. Erskine would then add five runs in the eighth to bust the game open and Gray would pitch a scoreless ninth.
Galliher led the Fleet at the plate going 3-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Corn was 2-4 with a home run and four runs batted in. Gray (3-0) picked up the win allowing just one hit and striking out five in three and a third innings pitched.

Game 2 (Erskine 1 King 0)
Just thirty minutes after the first game was over, Gray toed the rubber to start the second game of the double header and continued his dominance over the Tornado batters. He would allow just four hits and strike out four in his second straight complete game to pick up his fourth win of the season. In the bottom of the third, Galliher would blast his first college home run over the left field wall to put the Fleet on top for good.
The two teams will conclude their conference series with a single game starting at noon tomorrow.
