Morrow, GA – Erskine lost to #12 Clayton State 8 to 1 in non-conference women’s tennis action at Laker Courts. Erskine slips to 13-4 on the season while Clayton State improves to 9-5 overall.
Erskine came close to pulling two upsets in the doubles competition to start the match. Corin Hallman (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) and Victoria Stephens (Cumming, GA, South Forsyth High School) lost 9-7 at #2 doubles and Abby O'Reilly (Acworth, GA, Harrison High School) and Nikki Miller (Simpsonville, SC, Southside Christian School) pushed their match to a tie-breaker where they fell 8 to 6 giving Clayton State the 9-8 victory.
In the singles matches, Clayton State easily won the top two seeds in straight sets. O’Reilly scored Erskine’s lone point by beating Martina Dedaj in three sets. Miller almost upset Jessica Budd but lost in the third set tie-breaker.
Erskine plays their last home match this Thursday against North Greenville University starting at 3:00 p.m.
