Hilton Head, SC – Erskine ended their trip to Hilton Head Island by defeating Carleton College 6 to 3 in non-conference women’s tennis action.  Erskine improves to 13-3 on the season.

Erskine opened the match by winning two of the three doubles matches.  Erskine’s Tessa Rheault (Levis, Quebec, Canada, Ecole Pointe Levy) and Britton Bignon (Athens, GA, Oconee County High School) edged by Kathryn Schmidt and Erin Gudul in the tie-breaker 7-4 to win the match 9-8.  Abby O'Reilly (Acworth, GA, Harrison High School) and Nikki Miller (Simpsonville, SC, Southside Christian School) also prevailed in a close match at #3 doubles 8-6.  Corin Hallman and Victoria Stephens lost to Bridget Doyle and Anne Lombardi 8-4.

Erskine clinched the match by winning four of the six singles matches.  Tessa Rheault and Corin Hallman (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) both won three set thrillers to win two crucial points for the Fleet.  Britton Bignon and Victoria Stephens (Cumming, GA, South Forsyth High School) cruised to straight set victories for the Fleet’s other two points.

Erskine plays Wingate next Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
