Greenville, SC – The Erskine women’s tennis team opened their 2011 season with a convincing 9-0 victory over Converse College in Conference Carolinas women’s tennis action at the Furman Indoor Tennis Facility. The match site was moved from the Converse campus to the Furman Indoor Tennis Facility due to the heavy rains in the area.
Erskine easily swept the doubles matches by scores of 8-3, 8-2, and 8-2 to take a 3-0 advantage into the singles matches.
Erskine continued to dominate the courts in singles play winning all six matches. Freshmen Corin Hallman (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) and April Horne (Columbia, SC, Brookland-Cayce High School) both made impressive debuts winning their first collegiate matches 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 respectively.
Saturday’s match against North Georgia has been postponed. A new date has not yet been set.
Erskine’s next scheduled match is Thursday, February 10th against Peach Belt conference member USC-Aiken. The start time is set for 2:00 p.m.
