Due West, SC – On senior day, the Erskine Lady Fleet pounded St. Andrews Presbyterian College 70 to 57 in Conference Carolinas women’s basketball action at Belk Arena. With victory, Erskine improves to 11-12 overall and 9-8 in conference.
Erskine trailed early in the game but took the lead for good at 16-15 on a layup by Elizabeth Tatum (Glennville, GA, Pinewood Christian Academy). Neci Allen (North Augusta, SC, North Augusta High School)extended the Erskine lead to nine points on a jump shot with 2:45 remaining in the half. Erskine closed out the half leading 34-28.
Erskine maintained a steady 8 point lead throughout the second half. With less than four minutes remaining, Erskine pushed their lead to double-digits on a 3-point basket by Denicsha Bennamon (Goose Creek, SC, Goose Creek High School) and cruised to a 70 to 57 victory.
Elizabeth Tatum led the Fleet with 19 points while senior Jean Marie Harris (Lancaster, SC, Indian Land High School) added 14 points. Allen earned her third “double-double” of the season with 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
SAPC’s Natia Gasque had an impressive game scoring a game-high 29 points while pulling down a game-high 17 rebounds. Megan Lee and Natalie Whitman contributed 11 and 10 points respectively.
Erskine travels to Limestone College on Tuesday. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
