Hartsville, SC – Erskine senior Kelly Davis hit a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the 8th inning off Pfeiffer’s Allison Braswell to give #2 Erskine a 4 to 2 victory over #7 Pfeiffer University in the first round of the Conference Carolinas Softball Championship Tournament. For Davis, it was her first home run of the season.
Pfeiffer University got on the board first scoring two unearned runs in the top of the second on an Erskine fielding error. The Fleet got one run back in the 3rd inning on an RBI single by senior Kayla Vinson scoring Kelly Davis. In the fifth inning, the Fleet tied the game at 2 runs a piece on a RBI single by freshman Larissa Shannon setting up the dramatic finish for Kelly Davis in the eighth inning.
Erskine pitcher Heather Richey pitched all eight innings giving up two unearned runs on eight hits. She struck out five and walked one to earn her 8th win of the season. Pfeiffer’s Allison Braswell took the loss pitching 7.1 innings and surrendering four runs, three earned on seven hits. She struck out three and walked three.
