Senior Bryan Fogle Hit 3 Home Runs and Drove in Nine Runs

#28 Fleet Blast five Home Runs and Score 30 runs in Victory over Bloomsburg

Due West, SC – The 28th ranked Flying Fleet pounded out 29 hits, including five home runs and scored in seven of eight at bats to take a 30-18 victory over Bloomsburg University Monday afternoon at Grier Field.

Bloomsburg jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but Erskine would answer in the bottom half of the inning with a two run home run by Bryan Fogle (Lexington, SC, Lexington High School) to tie the game. The Huskies would regain the lead with four runs in the second and one in the third to take a 7-2 lead. The Fleet offense would explode in the bottom of the third, taking advantage of three walks. Zach McCarthy (Spartanburg, SC, Byrnes HS) would lead off with a single and then Luke Danielewicz (Spartanburg, SC, Dorman High School) would walk, followed by a single by Chas Anthony (Pickens, SC, Pickens High School) to load the bases. Fogle and John Bolding (Pickens, SC, Pickens HS) would then both walk to make it a 7-4 game. Mo Seay (Anderson, SC, Wofford) would single to drive in a run with a single to left and Brandon Garrett (Woodruff, SC, Woodruff HS) would double to dive in two and tie the game. Erskine would add two more runs to take the lead.

After the Huskies tied the game once again in the fourth, Erskine would then take control with nine runs in the next two innings and then hold on for the victory.

Anthony had five hits including a double to lead the Fleet, while Bolding added four hits with four RBI’s. Fogle had the biggest day at the plate going 3-5 with a career high three home runs and nine RBIs.

Russell Reid (Hudson, NC, South Caldwell HS) (5-2) picked up the win allowing three runs on six hits in three innings of work out of the bull pen.

With the win, Erskine improves to 17-5 and will host Georgia College and State tomorrow at 2:00 pm.
