Augusta, GA – Erskine scored seven runs in the first five innings and held on for a 7-5 victory over Augusta State Thursday afternoon at Lake Olmstead Stadium in non conference baseball action.

Senior Bryan Fogle (Lexington, SC, Lexington High School) put the Fleet up 2-0 in the top of the first when he blasted his third home run of the season over the center field wall. Erskine would push their lead to 6-0 on the fourth on a RBI double by Fogle and a run scoring ground out from John Bolding (Pickens, SC, Pickens HS). Zach McCarthy (Spartanburg, SC, Byrnes HS) would wrap up the scoring with a RBI single in the fifth.

Fogle led the Fleet at the plate going 3-5 with a home run, double, and three RBI’s while seven other players each had one hit. Senior Russell Reid (Hudson, NC, South Caldwell HS) picked up the win allowing four runs (three earned) on 11 hits in eight innings while striking out a career high 11 batters. Atlee Pearson (Duncan, SC, Byrnes HS) picked up his sixth save allowing one run on one hit in one inning of work and striking out three.
