Laurinburg, NC – The Lady Fleet wasted little time sprinting out to a double-digit lead and easily defeated the short-handed St. Andrews Presbyterian College Lady Knights 87 to 61. The Flying Fleet (11-13 overall, 10-10 conference) played all fifteen players and had eleven players score. Meanwhile, St. Andrews Presbyterian College (3-21, 1-19) only had five available players for tonight’s game.
Erskine scored the game’s first nine points including back-to-back layups by senior Mary Ann Langford and never looked back. The Lady Knights got within six, 19 to 13, when Kayla Hay scored on an inbounds play from teammate Jaquese Smith at the 13:19 mark. The Fleet responded with an 11-1 run to extend their lead back to double figures.
Senior guard Audrey Timmerman led the Fleet offensively hitting 7 of 9 from 3-point range and scoring a game-high 24 points. She also had a four steals on the evening. Four other Fleet players reached double-figures with Mary Ann Langford scoring 13 points, Porsha Morgan 11 points and Elizabeth Tatum and Lauren Stewart with 10 points each. Mary Ann Langford also pulled down a team-high 7 rebounds while Porsha Morgan handed out 7 assists to just one turnover. For SAPC, Kayla Hay earned a “double-double” with 17 points and 15 rebounds, her fifth “double-double” of the season. She also had 5 assists and 3 blocks. Megan Lee led SAPC in scoring with 18 points.
The Lady Fleet travel to Gaffney, South Carolina, on Wednesday to face conference foe Limestone College while St. Andrews Presbyterian College hosts Converse College. Game time for both games is set for 5:30 p.m.
