Greenwood, SC – Erskine extended their win streak to six games by defeating local rival Lander University 3 to 1 (25-22, 20-25, 25-19, and 25-14) at Horne Arena in non-conference volleyball action. Erskine now stands at 14-5 on the season while Lander falls to 8-10.
Sophomore Larz Chabra (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) and junior Jamie Murray (Hermann, MO, Hermann HS) earned “double-doubles” in tonight’s victory. Chabra had 41 assists and a season-high 15 digs while Murray had 11 kills and 14 digs. Murray also helped Erskine dominate the net contributing 4 blocks. Junior Sandra Campbell (Pilot Point, TX, Point Pilot HS) just missed a “double-double” with a game-high 13 kills and 8 blocks. As a team, Erskine had 13 blocks to Lander’s 5 blocks.
For Lander, Melissa McCracken also earned a “double-double” with a team-high 12 kills and 12 digs. Madison Kubal performed brilliantly on the back row for Lander with a game-high 17 digs.
Erskine goes on the road this weekend traveling to Belmont, North Carolina, on Friday to face Belmont-Abbey College followed by a double-header on Saturday in Banner Elk, North Carolina, against conference-leading Lees-McRae College and South Atlantic conference member Tusculum College.
