Women's Basketball Crushes St. Andrews

All Fifteen Fleet Players Score

Due West, SC – After a slow start, junior guard Neci Allen (North Augusta, SC/North Augusta H.S.) sparked the Fleet offense scoring all her 7 points in a three minute span to give the Fleet a 23 to 10 lead.  From that point, the Lady Fleet dominated the St. Andrews Knights winning the game 95 to 52. 

 

All fifteen Fleet players scored on the evening with senior guard Audrey Timmerman (Aiken, SC/Aiken H.S.) and sophomore forward Elizabeth Tatum (Glennville, GA/Pineville Christian Academy) sharing game-high honors with 16 points a piece.  Freshman guard Catherine Houston (Greenville, SC/Greenville H.S.) and sophomore guard Porsha Morgan (Columbus, GA/LaGrange Academcy) also reached double-digits with 11 points each.  Two St. Andrews players, Natia Gasque and Lolonda Byrd-Davis, earned double-doubles on the evening.  Natia Gasque led the Knights with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Lolonda Byrd-Davis had 11 points along with 11 boards.

 

The Lady Fleet (5-4 overall, 4-1 conference) have now won three games in a row to start the New Year.  The Lady Fleet shot 52.5% from the field, including an impressive 10 for 20 from 3 point range.  Erskine also converted 28 Knight turnovers into 35 points.  The Lady Fleet limited the Knights to just 35% shooting, including missing all nine of their three point attempts.  Erskine held a slight rebound edge at 41 to 39.  Mary Ann Langford (LaGrange, GA/LaGrange Academy) led the Fleet with 9 rebounds.

 

Erskine goes on the road on Wednesday to face conference foe Belmont-Abbey with game time set for 5:30 p.m.
