Late Goal Sinks Fleet

Dahlonega, GA- The North Georgia’s Mikki Bozickovic scored in the 75th 

minute to defeat the Erskine men’s soccer team 2-1 Wednesday evening in non-conference action.

 

North Georgia’s Chris Griffith tallied the first goal of the game off a cross from Jeff Majors, giving the Saints the 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute. 

 

The Fleet responded quickly as Alex Connally took a pass from Brady Johnson and coaxed a shot by Saints’ keeper Rade Ranaskovic tying the game 1-1.  The match would go scoreless for nearly 40 minutes until Bozickovic broke the tie in the 75th minute for the win.

 

The 2-1 victory is first win for North Georgia and they improve their record to 1-1 while the Fleet slip to 0-2-1 on the year.

 

Erskine keeper Devon Braykovich recorded nine saves in goal for the Flying Fleet, allowing  two goals in all 90 minutes of action, while North Georgia’s Tanaskovic posted one save.

 

Erskine was out-shot today 16-4.  North Georgia also had the advantage with corner kicks 9-5. 

 

Erskine will have the rest of the week off, but will hit the road next week as they take on Brevard College on September 8.
